01 / Why I get called
The crisis designer
An engineer who learned to draw
Two situations bring me in: nothing exists yet and it has to be built from scratch, or everything is broken and the fix was needed yesterday.
Six projects in a row started with no spec
Domain knowledge has to be dug up first: a month of talking to traders, six months inside a glass factory.
The engineering background helps: I read code, take apart technical requirements and translate them for the design team. I stay a playing coach: when it is needed I close the UX/UI and the critical production work myself.

International fintech and proprietary trading ecosystem: prop trading, crypto products, brokerage, an education platform, media and offline events.
Head of Design / Product Design Lead
- Built the company’s design function from the ground up: the company was still forming and needed a visual system, websites, product interfaces, decks, social assets and event materials.
- Defined the core visual identity and kept adapting it to fast-moving business priorities; the team went through several rebrands and design system updates.

- Contributed to new business directions: prop trading challenges, futures, crypto trading, the brokerage site, the education platform, YouTube and podcasts, events and content products.
- Worked with incomplete and unstructured requirements: calls with the founder, copywriters and the team, breaking down tasks and shaping site and product structure.
- Led the design team: allocated work, ran reviews, mentored junior and middle designers, and kept visual and product design quality consistent across every direction.
- Set up design support for international events in Latin America: speaker decks, visual materials, venue branding and supporting marketing.
- Ran high-volume content production: social creatives, dozens of decks, YouTube and podcast assets, advertising and product visuals.

03 / Work
Start with NEOMAAA
NEOMAAA. Not one product but an ecosystem.
Built it whole, from zero- NEOMAAA
Broker. Took competitors apart, then built ours
Steklo24. Six months inside a factory
Phygital. MVP in a month
after the agency failed- NEOMAAADashboard. Two user types in one product
- Galaxy Tap. Game mechanics,
states, characters, design system
CIX AR. Identity, websites
and decks for the ecosystem
GSI events. Venues, stands, merch
and event decks
CIX TAP. A mobile app: mechanics,
screens, states. Social creatives came as a bonus

04 / How I work
The practices I lead the team with

I almost always get juniors. The team grows from the inside, because nobody hands me one ready-made, and everything below follows from that.
The mechanics
A copy next to it
I do not edit someone else’s file
I make my own version alongside: here is yours, here is mine. The person sees the difference themselves, faster than any explanation, and the work stays theirs.
Three kinds of correction
Say it, walk through it, or show it
Words when words are enough. A call with a proper walkthrough when the file shows a gap in knowledge. Hands-on when the change is hard to explain.
The “finish it” mode
Two people in one file
We hand the layout back and forth: copy, edits, check, someone finishes it off. That is how deadlines get met that neither of us would meet alone.
A place to speak
A designers-only chat
Any topic, with no other departments watching. Plus a private channel with each person: time off, overtime, admitting they are stuck. None of it leaves the room.
I take the hit
It reaches me first
When other departments come after the design, they talk to me. If my people made the mistake, I deal with it and do not hand anyone over.
Come straight away
A mistake is cheaper than hiding it
The rule came from someone staying silent for three days about a problem the whole team depended on. Skill had nothing to do with it: the silence did.

Three interviews with teammates
Gleb Ganenko
Designer, NEOMAAA
Junior → senior, seven years together
- What did you learn over these seven years?
- Deep typography, design thinking, and 90% of my technical knowledge about building websites and apps.
- What did I do on the projects?
- He ran all client communication, “translated” their vision into plain language, and made the creative, technical and stylistic calls.
- What was hard?
- A difficult character at times. Otherwise there is nothing to add.
Seven years together. Joined as a junior, now works at senior level: I review the files, but corrections are rarely needed.
Senya
UX/UI, another company
Junior → mid, changed career track
- What could you not do before we started working together, and what changed?
- Working with neural networks, plus I saw the pipeline used in web. After that I wanted to become a UX/UI designer, and I am moving into that team right now.
- What is the one thing I explained that stayed with you?
- The rule about pairs of nearly identical pictures: the difference between an original and a fake adds up from small details. Plus how much soft skills and teamwork matter.
- Why do you still write to me from your new job when you get stuck?
- Your experience: you know how to support and explain clearly while staying unbiased.
Left for another company and moved into UX/UI there. Still writes when she gets stuck on a task.
Valeria
Design management
Junior → mid, came in with little experience
- How did the feedback feel?
- Even when I made mistakes, I never got feedback that would make me lose faith in myself.
- What about overtime?
- It was clear that nobody was pushing us to overwork.
- What happened when other departments came after the design?
- You always defended our decisions and never let the team’s work be dismissed.
- What got in the way?
- You did not always notice your own mistakes or other people’s, while I got called out for the same things.
We worked together at NEOMAAA. Joined as a junior with little experience: got a grip on typography and layering, and learned to defend her decisions.
06 / About
An engineer by first profession
Four programming languages by the end of school. I still read code but do not write it. That is enough to speak the same language as engineering and translate requirements for designers.
At home, a smart house with 40 devices, routers reflashed over UART, self-hosted VPN servers, wiring and low-voltage work done by hand.
ITMO University, optical engineering. Russian native, English intermediate. I design for markets whose languages I do not speak. Which means I rely on a system where a native speaker’s instinct is missing.
